‘Postplasticism’ departs from the rigid geometries of Neoplasticism: the austere, geometrical, abstract style labelled by Mondrian one century ago, which focused on strict, geometric forms and primary, applied colours. Postplasticism embraces a more ornate, organic, … more

Surface Articulation as Structural Leverage in Large Scale 3D Printing @ eCAADe 2024

The Additive Hyper-Ornamental Prototypes Trilogy

Authors: Pavlos Fereos, Kilian Bauer, Eftychios-Nicolaos Efthimiou

Acknowledgements: The Additive Hyper-Ornamental Prototypes Trilogy was developed within cooperative computational design and digital fabrication courses at the Universität Innsbruck and the University of Nicosia from the year 2021 to 2024 and received funding from both institutions. The research was conducted with great infrastructural and personnel support of the Robotic Experimentation Lab (REX|LAB), led by Prof. Marjan Colletti at the Universität Innsbruck. Multimateriality in Additive Fabrication – Sustainable 4D Multimaterial Prototypes

848181 SE New Technologies – Master Elective Course – Summer Semester 2024

Teaching: Kilian Bauer w/ REX|LAB

Short Brief: As an important contribution to a sustainable reorientation of the construction industry, additive manufacturing is open to a wide variety of materials and material combinations in order to address aspects of ecological impact in a world of increasing resource shortages. Nevertheless, research
into sustainable materials in large-scale 3D printing is still in … more

Postdigital Nature of Planet B

Postdigital Natures of Planet B is a large-scale, robotically 3D-printed 1:1 installation made of recycled plastic and other bespoke biodegradable materials. It proposes artificial-natural, physical-virtual, technological-botanical hybridity as metaphor for a future vision of a more intricate rapport between architecture and nature I the Anthropocene. It does this by exploring ambiguous overlaps and interfaces between the natural, the virtual, and the built environments. The installation was developed for and exhibited at the ARS Electronica Festival 2022 by the PDNB research … more

TRIOPIC SPECTACLE @ARS Electronica Festival 2021

Postdigital Neobaroque Transmedia – PDNB

As part of an ongoing process of diversification, as well as a contribution to the decentralisation and democratisation of the digital, Triopic Spectacle* seeks to dissolve the hierarchies between the real and the potential – a radical concept that can be traced back to 17th century baroque thinking.
