SUMMARY:WOLF DPRIX: PEACE\, LOVE AND ICE CREAM
DESCRIPTION:We cordially invite you to our upcoming guest lecture “Peace\, Love and Ice Cream” by Wolf dPrix\, co-founder of COOP HIMMELB(L)AU.\nJoin us at the studio on Wednesday\, may 6th\, 2026\, 18:30 \n  \nCOOP HIMMELB(L)AU Projects 4.0\nPeace\, Love and Ice Cream \nCoop Himmelb(l)au is one of the most innovative internationally known architectural practices under the direction of Co-founder\, CEO and Design Principal Wolf dPrix. \nThe illustration of the Studio´s philosophy and the very specific method of designing led to iconic projects such as BMW-Welt\, Dalian Conference Center\, European Central Bank\, Musée des Confluences\, and other recent projects in the Middle East and Asia. In this lecture\, we will discuss how the studio´s philosophy developed from 1968 until today. For Coop Himmelb(l)au time is the 4th dimension and space is the quality. Pictures\, renderings\, animation\, and movies. Music! \nShort CV of Wolf dPrix / Coop Himmelb(l)au\nCo-Founder\, CEO\, Design Principal \nWolf dPrix is co-founder\, CEO and design principal of COOP HIMMELB(L)AU\, a studio globally recognized for its innovative\, and complex design approach at the intersection of architecture\, art and technology. He is counted among the originators of the deconstructivist architecture movement. \nThroughout his career\, Wolf dPrix has remained active in education and academic life. He has held teaching positions at the University of Applied Arts\, Architectural Association (AA)\, MIT\, Harvard\, Columbia\, UCLA\, Yale\, PENN\, SCI-Arc and other institutions around the world. Wolf dPrix’s distinguished honors include the two highest Austrian awards given for cultural achievements: the Grand Austrian State Prize and the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art. He is a member of the Austrian Arts Senate\, the Curia for Art\, since 2014 as chairman. Additional awards include\, among others: the Schelling Architecture Award\, the Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres\, the Annie Spink Award\, the Jencks Award\, the Hessian Cultural Prize\, the Digital Futures Project Award\, and the 2021 ACADIA Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2023 Wolf dPrix was chosen as one of “100 Architects” by the Korean Institute of Architects. \nInstitutions such as the Getty Foundation\, the MAK Museum of Applied Arts\, and the Centre George Pompidou show the work in permanent exhibitions. In 2006 Wolf dPrix was commissioner for the Austrian contribution to the 10th Venice Biennale. Overall\, the studio has been invited eight times to participate in the Venice Architecture Biennale.

He builds architectures without function\, entitled pre-architecture\, in open spaces\, sculpture parks\, or any situation exempt from urban regulations. While inventing an architectural genre through the development of alternative constructive systems\, Leschelier responds to the sclerosis of the architectural discipline by creating an immediate\, naked\, speaking architecture. Drawing inspiration from performance art\, vernacular architecture and industrial abstraction\, Leschelier’s pre-architecture is an attempt to break with the logic of the discipline and through its immediacy\, to resynchronize with the speed of the present. \nMarc Leschelier was a fellow at the Villa Medici in 2017–2018 and a resident at Casa Wabi in 2025. His work has been awarded by Herzog and De Meuron with the redistribution of their prize at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris this year. He will be a workshop leader next year at Porto Academy. In March 2025\, he opened a solo show in Paris in dialogue with historic pieces by Jean Prouvé on loan from a private collector. He has exhibited his work at Christophe Gaillard Gallery\, Mascota Gallery\, Spazio Maiocchi or Dover Street Market. He has participated in international fairs such as Design Miami Paris\, Salone del Mobile and Art Brussels. Over the past six years\, he has built ten permanent and ephemeral pavilions.
